A well-traveled stretch of road in the southwest suburbs will remain closed until further notice after a snag in a planned construction project, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. A portion of 127th Street where it crosses the Calumet Sag Channel on the border of Alsip and Crestwood had been due to close Nov. 4 for two weeks to complete installation of a water line, according to IDOT. The bridge had been closed just east of the intersection of 127th and Cal Sag Road, a few blocks west of Cicero Avenue and the busy interchange of Cicero and 127th.
